New High-Tech Offshore Invention During August 2000 abh INGENIEUR-TECHNIK GMBH, as an innovative design and development partner, was announced by the Shipping Company EGON OLDENDORFF, Lübeck, to design a completely new type of Offshore Loading platform, named: “TRANSSHIPPER”. Requested was an Offshore-loading platform with a loading range of up to 2000t coal per hour, that have to be taken from up to 50 m wide Bulk carrier (as f.e. PANMAX or CAPESIZE Bulker). The idea was to off-load the coal from the Bulk carrier via the TRANSSHIPPER into Coal-Barges that afterwards will be towed via a tugboat to a coal-power-plant at the near coast. The crew of the „TRANSSHIPPER“ consists of 42 persons which is accommodated above the starboard hull during the 2-weeks working-turn. A special challenge for the TRANSSHIPPER are the environmental factors of the bay of Iskenderun, Turkey.
A smooth running off-loading during wind forces up to 8 Bft. and wave heights of 2,5 m height has to be ensured. Simulation of movement, fendering and stability prediction are only three key words to make plain what kind of high challenges had to be kept within the design. In spring 2001 the design documents were passed to the building shipyard Gdansk Stoznia Remontowa, Poland, who constructed the “TRANSSHIPPER”. Delivery of the unit was during August 2003 with sea transport on a special barge via Baltic Sea, Northsea and Channel. After passing Gibraltar and Mediterranean Sea the “TRANSSHIPPER” reached Iskenderung, Turkey without any problems. All over the building period abh INGENIEUR-TECHNIK GMBH – represented by managing clerk Richard Vogt – the Yard as well as the Shipowner have been consulted. The “TRANSSHIPPER” came into service by end of the year 2002. |

In close cooperation with our client we designed a Catamaran-Loading- Platform. There are three 45 to Bulk-Excenter-Cranes mounted including the appropriate belt conveyor for the transportation of the coal to the coal-lighter.
